The Shiv Sena has demanded a bio-diversity park (BDP) in the old Development plan (DP) of the city as done for the 23 villages that were merged in the PMC limits later.

The party said this would protect the hill areas in the old DP.

Party spokesperson Nilam Gorhe said at a press conference,“Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had prepared the development plan for the 23 villages. The Sena had sought BDP reservation in this new area and the state government had decided in favour of it. Likewise,it is also important that hills in the old city limits are protected by way of BDP reservation. There has been no meeting of the Chief Minister,Deputy Chief Minister or MLAs from the city on the issue of DP and the BDP reservation so far.”

In what appeared to be a veiled attack on Vandana Chavan,Gorhe said,“Some NCP leaders are saying Shiv Sena corporators made a mistake about the BDP. But what they are forgetting is that though their party had majority in the PMC they couldn’t stop the old development plan. This is selective amnensia.”
