The city police on Friday arrested seven women from Thailand and their manager,busting an alleged sex racket that was being operated in a spa at a plush mall in Koregaon Park.

Senior police inspector Bhanupratap Barge of social security cell of Pune police said that acting on a tip-off,a decoy was sent at the Aspen spa in the Koregaon Park mall.

“After the raid,we confirmed that a sex racket was operating in the spa. All seven Thai women held had come to the city on a tourist visa between February and May.

“They would be booked along with the manager under sections of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) and Foreigners Act,” said Barge.

The FIR in this case was lodged at the Koregaon Park police station. Police said the Thai women who were in the age of 25-40 years got a monthly salary of Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000,along with free accommodation.

The owner had also kept with himself the passports of the Thai women.

Police checked the passports after detaing the Thai women. Investigations revealed that customers belonged to elite groups and they had taken appointments at the spa for taking a massage.
