After American thrash metal band Megadeth’s India debut in October,at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Delhi, the Indian audience can look forward to the lilting purrs and smoky voice of jazz and R&B singer Norah Jones. Jones’ maiden concert is scheduled for March 2013 in Mumbai. The singer, whose Dusty Sprigfield-ish voice and piano skills have won her numerous accolades including nine Grammy awards, will perform at a new music festival titled A Summer Day.

“Norah will perform in Mumbai in the first half of March. That is also the time when she is visiting Australia and Singapore. Since she will be in the region, she will be able to fit in the India concert,” says Vijay Nair,CEO of Only Much Louder (OML) and co-founder of NH7 Weekender. He added that he is trying to fit in performances in other Indian cities, with Delhi being a priority.

Nair adds that A Summer Day will be different kind of festival. “Music festivals in India are hectic for people visiting them. Like the name says,A Summer Day will have a relaxed vibe, where people can come with their folks in the afternoon, have a relaxed evening and listen to the tunes of wonderful artistes,” says Nair.

Jones, whose debut album Come Away with Me has sold 26 million copies,is expected to sing tracks from her latest album,The Little Broken Hearts. In this album, she has turned away from her signature country crossover music and jazz to create songs such as Happy Pill and 4 Broken Hearts with woozy vocals sprinkled with dark lyrics.
