As many as 39 officers of Engineer Officers Degree Engineering course including two foreign officers from Sri Lanka and 25 officers of Technical Entry Scheme Course (TES) of the College of Military Engineering (CME),were awarded B Tech degrees under the aegis of Jawaharlal Nehru University,during the Scroll Presentation Ceremony in New Delhi on Friday.
S B Mujumdar,chancellor,Symbiosis International University was the chief guest. As many as 28 officers of Engineer Officers Degree Engineering course and 12 officers of TES course graduated in Civil Engineering discipline while 11 officers of Engineer Officers Degree Engineering graduated in Electrical Engineering discipline and 13 officers of TES course graduated in Mechanical Engineering discipline.
The function was attended by over 150 officers and their family members. Lieutenant General J Sikand,commandant,CME,welcomed the chief guest and gave a brief on the historical background of the institute.
As engineers in uniform,the graduating officers would face greater challenges in view of the increasing complexities in the infrastructural requirements of the defence forces,especially in inhospitable terrain and our mountainous borders. In order to meet these challenges,the young officers should keep pace with the technology, Mujumdar said in his valedictory address.
For Engineer Officers Degree Engineering course,gold medals for ranking first in Civil and Electrical Engineering Disciplines were awarded to Captain Abhishek Saxena and Major N Vasantharaj respectively. Gold medal for TES-19 Course,for ranking first in Mechanical Engineering discipline was awarded to Lieutenant Benit.
The student officers undertook a number of projects on
contemporary and relevant topics imbibing the knowledge acquired in structural engineering,Geographical Information Systems,Construction Engineering and Electrical Engineering subjects. The projects were displayed after the Scroll Presentation Ceremony.
