Lulla, whose top retailers include Liberty’s in London and Bergdorf Goodman in New York, made a quick trip to Mumbai last week to launch her collection exclusively at Bungalow 8,Mumbai. “India and Indianness have been strong elements in my designs,” remarked Lulla, whose forte lies in the tie-dyed cashmere scarves, gauzy shawls and wraps featuring hand painted designs and heavy sequined embellishment. “For me,a scarf is not just functional; I see it as luxurious, wearable art,” says the designer, who draws inspiration from her bi-annual trips to India and Paris,as well as from the runways and streets of New York City. The bright textured, printed, sequined and embroidered scarves are also easy on the pocket, priced at Rs 2,000 onwards.
