Salsa duo Irisha Poonawalla and Awadhesh Pratap Singh Chauhan, who recently trained at Salsamania in San Francisco and went on to perform at the 15th Annual International LA Salsa Congress, has reason to be excited. The duo was honoured by John Narvaex,a World Salsa Champion and director of Salsamania, who offered that they can represent the dance company as Salsamania India. Irisha said that during their training, they had no clue they would be asked to go up on the stage at Salsa Congress, where only the best of dancers perform. “Just 15 minutes before our performance,I dislocated my right knee. However,we chose to perform and got a standing ovation,” she said.
