Sahara Solapur steal the march on Spadlors

Sahara Solapur scored a close win (39-36) over Spadlors in the opening round of the Jaideorao Gaikwad basketball tournament. The tournament which is being played at the Deccan Gymkhana courts opened with the team from Solapur taking on Spadlors. Zaid Wadsandkar’s 17 points were instrumental in giving Sahara Solapur a good start and Imran Sheikh proved to be an able ally as his 16 points pulled his team through.

New Youngsters beat Deccan Gymkhana 56-49 with Prathamesh Shah putting in an incredible shift for New Youngsters. Shah scored 28 points and his unerring accuracy was the reason New Youngsters kept scoring points at regular intervals. Rishab Nahata was impressive for Deccan Gymkhana as he scored 20 points.

St Vincent’s beat Negians 43-29 in the last match of the day. Yashraj Patil (13 points) and Pushkar Kaware (10 points) combined well to rout Negians who had Preetam Barse as their top-scorer with 10 points. In the girls category,Dastur High School B edged a tight game against Millennium School. The final score read 20-17 in favour of Dastur High School B with Sakshee Naik logging 11 points.
