RTO in Pune collects Rs 1 lakh fine for truck modified for playing music during Ganesh festival

The regional transport office (RTO) has imposed a fine of Rs 1.03 lakh on a truck owner for allegedly modifying his truck for playing Dolby music system during the Ganesh festival without seeking the necessary permission.

RTO took the action following a report submitted in this case by the Chandan Nagar police station. Senior police inspector Anil Patrudkar of Chandan Nagar police station told mediapersons that during the immersion procession on the last day of Ganesh festival on September 15, his team found a truck modified without permission for playing Dolby music for the Rudra Pratishthan Ganesh Mandal in Anand Park, Wadgaon Sheri.

The Chandan Nagar police station team then registered a case against the Ganesh Mandal and also seized the truck. Police further submitted a report to the RTO for cancelling the registration number of the truck, owned by Balu Rajendra Jamdar, resident of Karandi Shikrapur.

Police said that as per the procedure, RTO took action and collected a fine of Rs 1.03 lakh from Jamdarm, which included vehicle tax of Rs 67,917 and Rs 35,400 as compounding fine.
