State Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS) minister Nitin Raut on Friday announced Rs 450 crore for the rural employment guarantee scheme in Pune division for this year and said he will ensure that maximum work will be given to people in drought-affected areas.
Addressing a press meet at Zilla Parishads Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium,Raut said he will promote the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Scheme in the state.
Under the scheme,I have encouraged maximum work to be given to people of drought-affected areas, said Raut. He had earlier visited and assessed the drought-affected areas along with Divisional Commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh,Pune District Collector Vikas Deshmukh and ZP CEO Anil Kawade.
Raut said the amount has been sanctioned post the assessment of affected areas. Each village should prepare a detailed plan with a budgetary allocation of Rs 30 lakh,he said. Only after a detailed assessment can we understand the requirement of every village facing drought-like conditions,said Raut.
The work that will be taken up will include construction of concrete roads,check dams,cattle sheds and lakes,he said.
