With several complaints being registered against tanker owners for charging extra for water, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced the prevailing water rates and has urged people to register their complaints with the department if the suppliers still charge extra.

“Due to the water cut that is at the present being implemented, tanker water use is increasing.”

“Tanker owners are taking advantage of the water shortage and are over charging the people.

The charge list will help the people,” said a PMC official.

“If a tanker owner sells water at a higher price, his tanker will be seized and the department will cancel his license thereby stopping him from continuing in the business,” said the official.

He also said that citizens should call on the telephone numbers announced by the PMC and should register the complaint by giving the name of the owner or the tanker number and day, time and place of the incident of overcharging.
