University of Pune (UoP) Vice-Chancellor Wasudeo Gade on Friday said the varsity would soon approach a local court seeking access to the documents and evidences submitted by the police in connection to the re-evaluation scam.
The investigation into the re-evaluation scam is almost over. We will seek access to the documents and evidences to expedite the university-level action against the guilty, he said.
Addressing the media on completion of his one year as the Vice-Chancellor on Thursday,Gade announced the appointment of retired high court judge to probe the findings of the Sharad Awasthi committee report on the scam.
The Vice-Chancellor ruled out allegations that he was under pressure from non-teaching staff unions.
In October last year, the Cantonment police probe into dummy candidates racket at some private colleges had revealed that the arrested were also involved in fraudulently passing students by facilitating an increase in their marks during re-evaluation process.
Sharing some of the new initiatives,Gade said the university would introduce M.Tech Aviation programme from the academic year 2013-14 in collaboration with a German institute.
UoP will be the first university in the country to provide such a course. As part of the programme, candidates will have to spend first six month at UoP and remaining 18 in Germany. The course will have credit system, he said.
