If his turn on last year’s MTV Unplugged — armed with an accordion,conducting a troupe of musicians,and crooning at peace,imaginative versions of his film numbers — elevated the show to another level,the channel has achieved a bigger coup for Coke Studio,Season 3. AR Rahman joins an existing line of producers including Amit Trivedi,Clinton Cerejo,Hitesh Sonik and Salim-Sulaiman. Not only will it see the maestro trying his hands on a new format,it will also mark his return to Indian non-film music after a long gap. His last being the album Connections in 2008. The composer will be seen producing a set of six original songs for the show,that is scheduled to start in July.

Art Effect

AYATANA,an art initiative by Art2day and Artz360,will be held from May 30 to June 3. The idea is to promote art amongst working professionals,while helping people interact with established artists. The four-day residential workshop will focus on the usage of water colours,textures and painting landscapes. It will be held at 12,Castellino Road,Golibar Maidan under the guidance of artist Millind Mullick. This year,the focus will be on Konkan and Harne beach near Dapoli. It was a star spangled affair,when the cast of Marathi movie Kho-Kho came calling to the city on Monday. The actors and director shared their experiences while they were shooting for the movie. The movie stars Bharat Jadhav,Siddharth Jadhav and Prajakta Mali in lead roles. Giving a sneak peek into the story,the team revealed that the plot is about how the protagonist leaves his city life to live peacefully at his ancestral home but is threatened by a local politician and goon to leave. The story takes a twist when he discovers a book written by his forefathers,which brings to life souls from the past,which can be seen only by him. Shobana Desai,a non-Marathi,has directed the film. “I am a Gujarati and cannot have a conversation in Marathi but that is no reason not to make a Marathi movie,” she said. The actors supported her as she said,“entertainment has no language.” Music given by Shashank Powar,has strong folk elements,said the team.
