THREE women contract workers serving at the bungalows of senior officers from Ammunition Factory, Khadki were hit by a speeding car, leading to death of one of them and seriously injuring the other two on Tuesday afternoon. Police said that the car was being driven by wife of an Army officer.
As per the information given by Khadki police, the incident took place around 1.30 pm on Tank Road in Khadki. According to senior inspector Suhas Bhosle of Khadki police station, the driver of the Honda Amaze (UK 07 BH 1331) car has been identified as Ambika Dev Mohan, wife of Lt Colonel Dev Mohan.
Police have identified the deceased as Nanda Ramdas Pardeshi (50) and the two injured as Sulochana Pardeshi (50) and Shakuntala Kanchi (56), who according to police, work on contract basis at bungalows of senior AFK officers in Khadki including Moola House, the house of senior general manager of the factory. The car hit the three women when they were walking along the roadside.
The three injured women were taken to a hospital where Nanda Pardeshi died during treatment. “We have been told that the driver was speaking on her cell phone when the incident took place but we will be probing all the possible angles,” said police. “An offence for rash driving and causing death due to negligence will be registered against the driver. The car has been seized,” said Bhosle.
