Pune district has registered 65.88 lakh people as voters as per the revised list,at the end of the voter registration drive on March 26. Of the number 34.48 lakh are male voters and 31.4 lakh female voters.
District Collector Chandrakant Dalvi said that the drive saw a good response with nearly 30,000 new voters being added.
While Maval constituency has registered 16.03 lakh voters,Pune registered 17.76 lakh voters,Baramati 15.88 lakh and Shirur 16.2 lakh after revision of the voter list.
Dalvi said the candidates will file nomination papers for the four Lok Sabha constituencies from March 28 to April 4 the time frame set by the Election Commission.
On the preparations for the poll,he said that polling and counting sessions will see the randomisation process being introduced. A training programme has been scheduled for the staff. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) too will undergo randomisation thrice, said Dalvi.
Nearly 300 staff has been deputed for the 6,669 booths in the district. Maval constituency having 1,629 primary centres will have 74 personnel. Pune will see 117 staff to man 1,436 booths,while 17 staff have been allotted for 1,937 booths in Baramati.
Shirur which has 6,669 booths will have 81 personnel. They will also be helped by the police and the central and state election officers. A total of 10 observers will keep a tab on the election process in the district.
