Pune man gets life imprisonment for killing wife

A SESSIONS Court has awarded life imprisonment to a 35-year old Moshi resident for killing his wife in April 2014 after he suspected her of having an affair.

Additional Sessions Judge M Nasir Saleem also imposed a penalty of Rs 5,000 on Maruti Gaikwad, a resident of Shivajiwadi, Moshi, after he was convicted under Section 302 of the IPC. According to the prosecution, the family was staying at their rented home at a chawl in Shivajiwadi for about a year at the time of the incident. While Maruti did a private job, his wife Archana worked as a tailor from home. Maruti had borrowed money from one of Archana’s relatives and whenever she asked him to return the money, he used to beat her up, saying she was having an affair.
