Pune: Fake Rs 100 notes deposited in PNB

The Punjab National Bank (PNB) has lodged an offence at the Lashkar police station against an unidentified person for depositing two fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of Rs 100 denomination between March 2015 and April 23, 2016.

PNB officer Sujit Nair, 41, has lodged an first information report (FIR) in the case.

The PNB’s branch in Aurora Towers, Pune Camp, had sent these non-issuable currency notes to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) at CBD, Belapur, in Navi Mumbai which had found the notes as fake. The PNB then lodged a complaint and the unidentified depositor has been booked under Sections 489 (a) (b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
