Principal Secretary Sitaram Kunte on Friday said that there would be no changes in the seat reservations that were declared by the election office, and changes in geographical boundaries were only under consideration in the process. He was representing the state election commission to conduct public hearing on suggestion and objections on delimitation of electoral panel for the 2017 elections of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

A total of 1,102 applications with suggestions and objections, of 133 different types, on delimitation were submitted to the civic election office. The type which had the most applications was regarding geographical boundaries, followed by changes in name and reservations. A total of 319
citizens participated in the public hearing which was completed on Friday and the report will be submitted to the election commission so that it can declare the final plan of the electoral panel.

The electoral panel is based on the 2011 census which takes place in small units, so the units have to be considered completely during finalisation of electoral panel boundaries irrespective of the natural bodies, Kunte said.
