Corporators of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) alleged that 14 projects under the Smart City scheme were inaugurated by flouting rules. The projects were inaugurated a year back, and the Smart City mission was launched by releasing the mission guidelines.

In the general body (GB) meeting of the PMC that was held on Monday, the corporators alleged that the due process was not followed while announcing the projects. Even steps such as issuance of work orders were not taken, but the projects were started, the corporators alleged.

The slum rehabilitation project at Aundh was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but the corporators alleged that it had not been submitted at the SRA. The flagship light house project too was questioned at the meeting. Corporators questioned about the delay and the process of implementing it.

The municipal commissioner, however, assured that all necessary steps were followed and the details would be shared with the corporators. The PMC would give a review report on the light house project in eight days, he said.
