Ashutosh Pednekar,Navneet Narian and A Rabindranath recorded upset wins to enter the last four in their respective events at the Kirloskar Pune Open Squash Championship. The tournament is being played at the Poona Club squash courts under the auspices of Squash and Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) and is being organised by Poona Club.
Ashutosh Pednekar ousted third seeded Rohit Thawani 11-3 11-8 11-4 in the over 35 category while former India player Navneet Narian scored a facile 11-2 11-8 11-3 win over third seeded Navin Shenoy in the over 40 category. A Rabindranath recorded the biggest upset of the day in the over 45 event when he toppled top seed Samir Khare 9-11 11-7 11-8 5-11 11-8 in the longest match of the day.
Mumbai player Arjun Agnihotri gave a tough time to fourth seed Deepak Mishra of Chennai before Mishra recouped to register a 11-6 11-5 13-15 11-4 win and booked a berth in the semifinals. Top seed and one of Indias most promising squash players Mahesh Mangaonkar outplayed Vikas Jangra of Mumbai 11-6 11-4 11-8. Mangaonkar looked in top form as he went about his business with workmanlike efficiency. Mangaonkars speed and the angles which the Mumbai lad created seemed to be too much for Jangra to contend with.
Second seed Ravi Dixit of Chennai scored a straight 11-6 11-7 11-6 win over tenth seed Rohan Vora of Pune while third seeded Gaurav Nandrajog was stretched by sixth seed Rishad Pandole of Mumbai 11-13 11-1 11-7 11-9.
In the professional event,top seed Sanjay Pawar,second seed Deepesh Bhorade,third seed Vijay Waghela and fourth seed Rohit Kadam progressed to the semifinals.
