A PARTIALLY decomposed body of a woman, who appeared to be in her late 30s, was found at a rented room in Lohegaon area on Saturday evening. Police said a team was sent to the area after neighbours had complained that unbearable stench was coming from the closed room. An official added that the woman and a man, who claimed to be married, had moved in the one-room residence last week. Owner of the flat, Dyaneshwar Khande, provided a document to the police, which identified the man as Suresh Shrimant Ingole.
Police said, “According to the information provided by Khande and neighbours, the two had moved in last week. The man had left four days ago for some work and has not returned yet. A primary analysis of the woman’s body revealed that the death must have occurred at least four days ago.” Sub-inspector with Airport police station said, “They told the owner that they were married. We don’t know the name of the diseased nor has it been established if the two were indeed married. We have managed to contact Ingole.”
The body has been sent to Sassoon General Hospital for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death, he added. For now, police have registered a case of Accidental Death in the matter.
