Days after he assumed charge as the chairman and managing director of PMPML,Shrikar Pardeshi has directed employees of the citys transport body to start working for eight hours a day instead of six.
He also got the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) standing committee to sanction Rs 24 crore towards payment for free passes to school students. The amount has been approved by the civic panel and we will place it before the civic general body meeting, said Pardeshi.
Pardeshis contention is that when PMPML is facing tough times, all its employees should put their best put forward.
The right attitude is important among employees. When PMC and PCMC employees are working for eight hours, there is no reason why PMPML staff cannot do so, said Pardeshi.
This is the second time in a matter of days,Pardeshi has taken tough decisions after he was given the charge of the transport utility. Last week,Pardeshi had held an emergency meeting to tackle the issue of breakdowns of buses.
PMPML buses have reported as many as 25,000 breakdowns in the last two-and-a-half years.
Pardeshi said PMPML was expecting Rs 36 crore from the PMC. This amount will go a long way in solving the funds problem faced by the PMPML, he said.
