‘Panel appointed to check illegal constructions has submitted report to CM’

Thorat said the recommendations of the report will be implemented after approval from the Chief Minister.

The committee appointed by the state government to check illegal constructions in Pune,Mumbai,Nashik,Aurangabad,Nagpur has submitted its report to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan,said Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat on the sidelines of a function in the city on Thursday.

Thorat said the recommendations of the report will be implemented after approval from the Chief Minister.

“We had a meeting on the issue. We are planning to appoint a dedicated squad to check illegal constructions in these areas,’’ said Thorat.

Pune district administration had listed 8,853 illegal structures in 13 talukas,with Maval and Haveli topping the list. Of these 3,634 have been issued notices while offences have been registered in other cases.

The three-member committee,appointed under Additional Chief Secretary Swadeen Kshatriya 14 months ago,submitted its report in stipulated one month time frame.

Last year,three MLAs from Pimpri-Chinchwad had protested against illegal structures in these areas by demonstration during the monsoon session of the state assembly. Following this,the government had appointed the committee.

Kshatriya who was also in the city on Thursday refused to disclose details of the report. “The committee has submitted the report in the given time frame and it is with the CMs office,’’he said.
