Pak man’s police custody extended

The court extended Tekwani’s police custody till December 12.

A magistrate court on Tuesday extended the police custody of Pakistani national Mahesh Bhoolchand Tekwani,who was arrested for alleged violation of the Foreigners Act.

Following a complaint,the Bundgarden police station had arrested Mahesh Tekwani under Section 14 (b) of the Foreigners Act on Saturday evening for allegedly procuring a driving licence from the Pune RTO when he was not supposed to move out of Thane.

On Tuesday,police produced Tekwani before the court and sought an extension in his custody as they are yet to arrest the “agent” who helped him get a driving licence from Pune RTO. The court extended Tekwani’s police custody till December 12.

According to the FRO,Mahesh Bhoolchand Tekwani hails from Karachi in Pakistan.

Tekwani came to India on June 28,2011 on a long-term visa of three years.

He registered himself with the Thane police and was residing in Ulhasnagar. He was not supposed to have moved out of Thane without the permission of the government.

Still,he came to Pune and procured a driving licence from Pune RTO on August 2,2011.
