One killed, one injured in cylinder explosion in Pune

As per the information given by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Fire Brigade, the incident was reported around 7 pm on Sunday at Shivaji Chowk in Chikhali.

ONE person was killed and another critically injured after an explosion of a cylinder from a shop in Chikhali on Sunday evening where small cylinders were being filled with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from bigger cylinders. The explosion also started a major fire at the shop and an adjacent sweets shop.

As per the information given by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Fire Brigade, the incident was reported around 7 pm on Sunday at Shivaji Chowk in Chikhali.

Kiran Gawade, chief of the PCMC fire brigade told Newsline, “As per our primary information, the explosion took place when the gas was being refilled into a small cylinder. A person who was standing outside this shop was critically injured due to the explosion and was reported dead. Another person in the shop has sustained severe injuries. Their identities were yet to be ascertained as of the last reports from the spot.”
