On the occasion of World Food Day on Wednesday,the Institute of Food Technology and Management (IFTM) will showcase high nutrition products developed by its students and staff. The products include high protein atta,high protein soya paneer,high protein biscuits and centre filled chocolate pralines.
The Food and Agriculture Organisation,a body of the United Nations,observes World Food Day on October 16. The annual celebrations aim at drawing attention to increase food production and take steps to combat poverty,hunger and malnutrition in the world. The year 2013 has been chosen as the year of sustainable food systems for food security and nutrition.
IFTM has chosen Nutrition as the theme to celebrate the World Food Day and has researched and developed suitable and cheap alternatives to animal proteins, said Dr Vedhakumar Valliapan,Executive Director,IFTM. These products will be showcased at the Baner campus of IFTM on Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm.
