Aundh-based Shivneri Brigade,a formation under the Ahmedabad-headquartered 11 Infantry Division (Golden Katar Division) will organise a three-day ex-servicemen rally starting August 14.
A medical camp will be held during the three-day rally being held in view of 2012 being declared the Year of the Veterans by the Army. The medical camp will also cater to dependents of ex-servicemen.
An Army official said,The three-day ex-servicemen rally will take place at Aundh Military Camp. We will have doctors from Military Hospital,Khadki,Command Hospital as well as the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) to provide medical assistance for retired services personnel and their dependents. In addition,a blood donation camp has also been organised.
A job placements camp is also on the agenda during the rally.
Over 1000 ex-servicemen from Maharashtra,Karnataka and Gujarat are expected to attend.
We have set up assistance cells at bus-stands and railway stations. Free accommodation will be provided to visiting ex-servicemen, the official added. A felicitation of gallantry award winners as well as Veer Naris will be held during the rally.
Keeping in mind that 2012 is the Year of the Veterans,we will be addressing various issues pertaining to retired services personnel,like health and pension matters, he said.
On the concluding day,August 16,an expedition to 10 forts in the state will be flagged off from Aundh Military Station.
The team will comprise 15-20 volunteers from the Army. They will visit forts in the state spreading the message of unity and integrity, the official said.
