An offence was registered on Saturday against well-known builder Deepak Sakharam Kulkarni (68), director of the DSK Group, and his wife Hemanti Kulkarni for allegedly cheating depositors of the company. The complainant Jitendra Narayan Kulkarni (65) is a resident of Kothrud and a depositor with the company. He lodged the FIR in the case at the Shivajinagar police station.
Police have booked Kulkarni and Hemanti, residents of Shivajinagar, under sections 406, 420, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Maharashtra Protection Of Interest of Depositors Act.
In the complaint, Mulekar said he had deposited money to the tune of Rs 4.40 lakh in D S Kulkarni’s company, but the company failed to give him the assured returns. The complaint stated that Mulekar got no return from the company within the assured time period. So, he lodged a complaint with the economic offences wing of the Crime Branch of Pune City Police a few days earlier.
After preliminary investigation by a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, EOW, Sanjay Kurundkar, the FIR was lodged in the case on Saturday. Several depositors who invested money in D S Kulkarni’s company have allegedly not received any returns. The depositors had also held protests outside Kulkarni’s office.
The company is reportedly facing losses and has not paid its employees’ salaries for a few months.
