In a bid to check delay in providing new electricity connections and ensure that consumers complaints are immediately attended to,Neelkanth Wadekar, chief engineer of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) – Pune zone, has decided to intervene and take cognisance of such issues.
Wadekar said consumers could call on 020-26135740 during office hours and he would personally ensure that grievances were redressed. The Pune Anti-Corruption Bureau had recently arrested four officials from the Padmavati and Dhankawadi offices of the MSEDCL for allegedly accepting bribe. To stem this rot and ensure that services are provided immediately,I have decided to take this initiative and ensure that new connections are provided as per the process, Wadekar told Newsline.
After consumers apply for a new electricity connection online at http://www.mahadiscom.in,the MSEDCL officers contact the applicants within seven days in urban areas and 10 days in rural areas. A visit to the site and verification of paper work is then done. Apart from this process, the MSEDCL will also provide detailed information about the status of the new connections under the single-window scheme. Such a provision will ensure that consumers are provided all the information at one centre.
Consumers from Padmavati,Rasta Peth,Nagar Road,Parvati and Bund Garden can call on 020-26119688 for information pertaining to their areas, while consumers from Kothrud and Shivajinagar can call on the consumer facilitation centre number 020-25452320.
Consumers from Pimpri,Bhosari and Pimpale Saudagar can call on 020-27201112.
A pilot project of the MSEDCL for areas in the Ganeshkhind circle had aimed at providing home-based new electricity connections to consumers. Applicants can now register on toll free number 18002339119. MSEDCL officials will then visit them and take
necessary details. The electricity board has also provided toll free numbers 18002333435 and 18002003435 for queries pertaining to new connections.
