The prosecution in the Nayana Pujari gangrape and murder case will examine her husband Abhijit Pujari and the approver Rajesh Chaudhari before a special court on Friday. The prosecution had submitted a list of witnesses, including Pujari and Chaudhari,to the court of special judge Sadhana Shinde.

Pujari’s deposition was not recorded earlier as the prime accused,Yogesh Raut, had escaped police custody in September 2011. He was nabbed again by the Pune crime branch. After his escape, other accused were tried separately. But after his arrest again, all suspects are now being tried jointly.

Special public prosecutor Harshad Nimbalkar said the depositions by Pujari and Chaudhari may be held in camera.

Nayana Pujari was found murdered in Rajgurunagar on October 8,2009. As she had gone missing from Kharadi, the case was taken over Yerawada police station who arrested Raut,Chaudhari and Mahesh Thakur, all from Khed, and Vishal Kadam from Satara. Chaudhari later turned approver. A chargesheet was filed in the case in January 2010.
