Mumbai DJ drowns in Lonavala lake

Police identified the deceased as Cyril Thomas Kini, a resident of JR Mhatre Road in Juhu.

A 22-year-old youth from Mumbai, who worked as a DJ, drowned in Gidhad Lake near Lonavala on Monday. His body was taken out by a group of local trekkers on Tuesday afternoon.

Police identified the deceased as Cyril Thomas Kini, a resident of JR Mhatre Road in Juhu. They said Cyril had come to Lonavala on Monday morning with four friends.

A police officer said Cyril was sitting on a rock under a waterfall adjoining the lake at around 2 pm on Monday, while his friends went for tea. “When his friends returned, Cyril was not there. They searched for him for a while and later in the evening, reported to us that he was missing. We initiated a search and also called in trekkers and rescuers,” he said.
