The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has been fined Rs 25,000 for not answering a Right To Information (RTI) query.
However, this could not be confirmed as PMPML sources said that they had not received any such communication from the State Information Commissioner in this regard.
The query was filed by S C N Jatar. “I had filed 11 questions on two subjects regarding the propeller shafts and tyre re-trading. PMPML was able to give sufficient replies only to seven questions. They said that they had lost the documents related to the work orders given for propeller shafts,” said Jatar.
He has alleged that the company has paid bills for 60 work orders, but the work orders have been given only for 30 propeller shafts. He said that public bus utilities are expected to keep financial records for atleast five years. “If the records were lost, the company should have filed an FIR or ordered an enquiry,” Jatar said.
A senior PMPML officer said he had only heard of the fine order. “We have not yet received anything in writing,” he said.
