Pandemonium prevailed in the PMC general body meeting on Tuesday when MNS corporators tried to present Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Pathak with a saree and bangles for his inaction in the alleged forgery case involving NCP corporator Reshma Bhosale. In protest all civic officers left the hall and refused to return for the GB meeting.
MNS corporators went on the offensive demanding action against Reshma wife of NCP MLC Anil Bhosale. Reshma won the civic elections defeating MNS candidate. The MNS has been raising alleged irregularities by civic officials. The then additional municipal commissioner Naresh Zurmure had investigated the matter,and concluded irregularities were committed by civic officials and action was recommended.
The State Election Commissioner had asked for a detailed investigation. Two civic officials were jailed for alleged complicity and later released on bail . MNS stalled proceedings and tried to present Pathak with a saree and bangles to protest against inaction. Civic officials,along with Pathak,walked out.
Condemning the incident,Avinash Bagwe said such incidents lowered the prestige of the house. Arvind Shinde,in a veiled reference to suspension of two MNS corporators for alleged submission of forged documents,said they have not been arrested yet. MNS group leader Vasant More,defended the action of his party. Later,Pathak,and municipal secretary Sunil Parkhi returned to the house at the request of Mayor Vaishali Bankar.
