Snehal Mane,a student of Modern High School, claimed the doubles crown at the Under-14 junior nationals played on clay at Chennai on Monday. However, what came as a disappointment to the 13-year-old was that she missed out on the singles crown after losing in the final.

Mane partnered Sai Avantika of Andhra Pradesh through the tournament and the pair downed the Maharashtra pair of Aashta Dhargude and Shivani Ingle in the final. The Andhra-Maharashtra pair were hardly stretched in the summit clash claiming a 6-4,6-2 victory.

Earlier,Mane was defeated by GS Vasavi of Tamil Nadu,6-7(6),6-2 in the singles final. The 13-year-old Mane is part of the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association’s (MSLTA) vision programme and is currently training at the PYC Gymkhana under coach Hemant Bendrey.
