Man held for firing at youth and police team

Mahesh Prakash Pawar,alias Bunty,(23),was arrested by the Haveli police on Wednesday for allegedly firing on a youth and a police team on March 1 in Tukainagar slum area in Vadgaon Budruk. Pawar is the prime accused in the case.

Mahesh Prakash Pawar,alias Bunty,(23),was arrested by the Haveli police on Wednesday for allegedly firing on a youth and a police team on March 1 in Tukainagar slum area in Vadgaon Budruk. Pawar is the prime accused in the case.

Four of Pawar’s accomplices were apprehended by the police on the day of the firing. Police had launched a search for Pawar,who has offences registered againsthim,including those of rioting,extortion and attempts to murder.

A police team led by inspector Namdeo Kauthale arrested Pawar after a trap was laid at Mahad in Raigad district. Pawar and his accomplices had opened fire on one Parag Bhuvad’s house,suspecting him to be a police informer.

Pawar had also fired at the police team when it went to the spot. No one was injured in the firing. Till now three country-made pistols have also been seized from the accused. Kauthale said,“Pawar told us during his interrogation that the fire arm used in the Shivajinagar court firing incident was purchased from him. We are verifying this claim.”
