Major K P Jadhav Memorial Football Tournament 2016: Matthew FA starts off on winning note

Matthew Football Academy started off their campaign on a winning note at the Major K P Jadhav Memorial Football Tournament 2016, organised by Vincentian’s Old Boys’ Association at PDFA ground in Dombarwadi on Saturday.

Matthew Football Academy started off their campaign on a winning note at the Major K P Jadhav Memorial Football Tournament 2016, organised by Vincentian’s Old Boys’ Association at PDFA ground in Dombarwadi on Saturday. On the inaugural day and the first match of the tournament, with just five minutes to finish, Mathew FA turned the game around as Sunny Jadhav scored a penalty to level the scores.

In the penalty shootout, Matthew FA’s Rohit Jadhav, Abhijit Rangaswami, Sourav Surve and Amol Waddekar didn’t misses any chances and secured a place in round two for the team. Major K P Jadhav memorial Football Tournament is one of the oldest tournaments in the city, and this year’s edition will be held in two divisions: one for teams from the Super-First Division and the other for Second-Third Division. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Fr Andrew Fernandis (Principal, St Vincent’s HS).
