Maharashtra: Youth arrested with 2 firearms

Acting on a tip-off to police naik Vinayak Shinde, a team of Faraskhana police station, led by Assistant Police Inspector Mahendra Jadhav, laid a trap, near Kamleshwar lodge, in Ganesh Peth and nabbed a youth who was carrying two country-made pistols and nine catridges on Wednesday.

Police have identified the suspect as Mangesh Maruti Jori (20), a resident of Dongargaon in Mulshi taluka of Pune district. They have arrested Jori under the Arms Act.

Police suspect that Jori was planning to sell the firearms to a person in Pune city.

Police said probe is on to know from where he procured the firearms and to whom he wanted to sell them.

Meanwhile, police said he is a history-sheeter who was earlier arrested with firearms by the Paud police.
