Maharashtra state electric board staffer ‘assaulted’ by shop owner

Patil has lodged an offence in this case at the Kothrud police station against the shop owner Prasad Baban Marne (25), resident of Jay Bhavani Nagar in Kothrud.

An employee of the Maharashtra State Electricity Development Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) was allegedly beaten up by a shop owner in Kothrud. The staffer, identified as Nitin Patil (33), cut off the electric supply of the shop at around 11.30 am on Friday because of alleged non-payment of bill.

Patil has lodged an offence in this case at the Kothrud police station against the shop owner Prasad Baban Marne (25), resident of Jay Bhavani Nagar in Kothrud. Police have booked Marne under sections 353, 332, 504, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Police havaldar R R Ugale is investigating the case. Ugale told media persons that Patil cut the electric supply to Barne’s shop because of non-payment of electricity bill of Rs 7,000. However, Barne got angry and allegedly assaulted Patil and also abused him.
