Kendriya Vidyalaya CME,Dapodi,has won the Mumbai-region level of the 26th National Youth Parliament Competition that was held on Tuesday and Wednesday at Kendriya Vidyalaya,Southern Command,Kahun Road. The school will now represent Mumbai-region in the zonal rounds.
The event,organised by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan,Mumbai,saw five teams Kendriya Vidyalaya ISP from Nashik,Kendriya Vidyalaya NAD Karanja and Kendriya Vidyalaya Bhandup from Mumbai,Kendriya Vidyalaya CME,Dapodi and Kendriya Vidyalaya Southern Command from Pune battle it out to get through to the next level.
Each team,comprising participants from Classes IX to XII,presented a 55-minute mock parliamentary session involving a speaker,ruling and opposition parties,foreign delegates and reporters. The session discussed social and political issues like the Uttarakhand calamity,terrorism,Aadhar card issues,inflation in the economy,women welfare and labour power.
The judges for the competition were Jaidev Rao Gaikwad,MLC,Mahadev Babu,MLA, Sarita Naswa,Assistant Commisioner,Mumbai-region and Nand Kishore Kumar,former head of the political science department,National Defence Academy. The function held on Wednesday was graced by former MLA Balasaheb Shivarkar,who felicitated the winning team.
