Special drive to update voters’ photo id card

PUNE: A special drive to update voters’ photo identity cards is being taken up by the Pune district administration on Sunday. “Voters who do not have their photographs updated in the voters’ list are requested to take the benefit of the special drive. They need to come along with their photos and photocopy of identity-proof,” an official release read. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at every polling booth between 10 am and 6 pm as part of the drive. The aim of the drive is to make voters’ lists with photos of all voters,it was said.

Online system for school attendance

PUNE: The Directorate of Primary Education will introduce an online software system to track attendance of students and teachers in schools,despite the fact that availability of computers and internet connection is still a distant dream for many schools,especially those from rural areas.

Audit finds 79,000 students deprived of scholarships

PUNE: A recent audit conducted by the Auditor General of Maharashtra found that 79,316 students from scheduled caste,tribes,special backward class,nomadic/ denotified tribes of their post matriculation scholarships for 2012-13 were deprived of scholarships.
