In its bid to establish Pune as a “smart city”, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is going all the way to even change its appearance on paper, literally! It plans to redesign its letter head, visiting cards and envelopes.
“The branding exercise for PMC requires expertise, so a panel of professional agencies would be set up to carry out the job for the civic body,” said a civic administration proposal tabled in the standing committee.
The PMC has prepared a rate card for each of the work to be carried out under the branding exercise. It includes designing its logo with concept and a tagline for city at a cost of Rs 25,000 per design. Logo for any civic event or presentation with tagline would come at a cost of Rs 6,500 per design.

“The PMC is in a transformation mode as it work towards establishing Pune as a smart city. The civic body would also redesign stationery template for its letter heads, visiting cards and envelopes of all sizes. For every design, Rs 5,000 would be paid,” said a civic official.
“The branding exercise for the PMC is need of the day to market the city to push the growth of various sector existing in the city. The tourism industry has a lot of scope and it can boost economic activity in the city. Thus, the branding should be done through all possible means and professional agencies need to be involved for the purpose,” said additional municipal commissioner Rajendra Jagtap.
The civic body would also prepare an information brochure which would include a synopsis of city with professional quality photos and crisp content in multiple languages.
There will also be an information folder about the PMC, which would be prepared for promoting the city in various sectors including tourism.
For specifically promoting tourism in the city, the PMC will be preparing an information folder that would feature tourist destinations.
There would be theme-based posters highlighting various heritage and important tourists spots.
For the outdoor campaign, the PMC will get hoardings, kiosks, gantries designed by the expert agency while seeking consultation for concept and planning of any civic event.
A handbook as city guide would be published while film capsules for promoting tourism would be made as per the need, the proposal said.
