Thirty eight leading private hospitals in Pune have been found to have violated civic rules and carried out illegal construction within their premises, according to a survey carried out by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The issue of illegal construction and encroachment being done by private hospitals was raised by the elected representatives in the PMC’s general body meeting after which the civic administration was directed to carry out the survey and table the report.

In the special general body meeting to discuss the reports on various issues, the civic administration submitted the hospital survey report, which would be taken up for discussion on June 9.

As per the report, there are around 593 private hospitals and nursing homes in Pune. The civic administration has completed the survey of 63 leading private hospitals and found that only 25 hospitals followed the civic rules as per their approved building construction plans.
