Auto Federation seeks fare hike
The Pune City Autorickshaw Federation has demanded an increase in fare to Rs 13 for the first kilometre and Rs 9 for each subsequent kilometre. A memorandum demanding the hike was forwarded to the Regional Transport Office this week,said Baba Shinde,president of the Federation. The memorandum states that the petrol price was increased by Rs 2.95 on December 16 last year and by Rs 2.70 on January 15. On an average,autorickshaw drivers have to spend Rs 50 to 60 daily on petrol.

Minor marriage: MNS corporator gets bail
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena corporator Vasant Krishnaji More (37) and his two associates Rajabhau Kadam (41) and Mahadevi Dengle (33) who was arrested on Thursday for facilitating the marriage of a minor girl were let out on bail of Rs 15,000 each on Saturday. They were arrested under relevant sections of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act,2006. Police said More and his associates had organised a mass marriage event at Mauli Garden marriage hall on Katraj-Kondhwa Road in the first week of January.

Bikers manhandle constable
Three unidentified persons in a car allegedly man handled a police constable attached with the Hinjewadi traffic division at Wakadgaon on Friday morning. Constable Vilas Rathod lodged a police complaint in this case. Police said Rathod was on duty at Wakadgaon chowk when he stopped a speeding car. Rathod questioned the car driver for reckless driving. However,the driver and his two aides allegedly man handled the constable and fled.
