As the CAT 2008 results were declared on Friday,a large number of students were glad that they scored much more than their expectations.

Some of them even got calls from IIMs as well as non-IIM business schools that take CAT scores for admissions. Around 17,000 students from Pune had appeared for CAT 2008 that was held on November 16.

According to Sujata Khanna,of Career Forum Limited,a Pune based coaching centre for the entrance test, said that a key feature of the results this year is that IIMs have given weightage to not just the CAT score, but also past academic record of candidates and work experience.

She added that this distribution has worked in favour of individuals who had percentile slightly lower than the benchmark worked out by IIMs.

Speaking on the cut-off score,Khanna said,“The emerging trend indicates that candidates above 97.5 percentage are receiving multiple calls.”

Sandeep Kaushik, delivery head,IMS Learning Centre, said the IIM,Kozhikode, was expected to issue the highest interview calls after putting its percentile benchmark in the range of 92 and 93.
