The girls football team of St Anne’s High School scored a 2-0 win against St Clare’s High School in the 18th VOBA Major KP Jadhav football championship in a match where both teams could not find a way past each other in regulation time.

The girls football team of St Anne’s High School scored a 2-0 win against St Clare’s High School in the 18th VOBA Major KP Jadhav football championship in a match where both teams could not find a way past each other in regulation time.

Both teams had quite a few chances to open the scoring,but the strikers did not seem sharp enough. The result of the match was finally decided through a penalty shoot-out. Shalome Joseph and Fiona Mendes scored for St Anne’s while Shalin Pawar and Siddhi Shah missed their spot kicks. Stuti Chandekar,Zeeba Shaikh,Shweta Adhyapak and Zainab Sheikh all missed their penalties for St Clare’s allowing St Anne’s to progress in the tournament. In the second match,Sangam FC Girls put up a dominating display against Erin Nagarwala School. Sangam ran out 4-0 victors and had RutujaGurvant to thank for the victory. Gurvant was in red-hot form as she scored all four of her team’s goals.In the last match of the day,Go Sports hammered St Anne’s High School 9-0.Shivani Daniseti was unstoppable as she scored five goals for her side. Alisha Raniketwala scored three goals while Muriel Adam scored a goal to round off the rout and help Go Sports advance.

The final of the girls category will be played on April 8 at St Vincent’s School ground.
