Police busted a gang of burglars and vehicles thieves who used to come in stolen cars and break into apartments in housing societies. Cops said that the gang used cars to avoid being intercepted or checked by police during the night. On July 2, police received a tip-off that a gang of burglars was coming towards Balewadi from Pimple Nilakh in WagonR and Honda City cars. Accordingly, they laid a trap, intercepted the cars and arrested four people.
Police recovered at least five iron rods, a screw driver, hack-saw blades and some stolen electronic gadgets from the accused identified as Gajraj Varma (31) from Sehore in Madhya Pradesh, Ganesh Rana (26) from Mandal-sen in Nepal, Surendra Chaudhary (22) and Narpatsingh Rajput (38), both from Pali in Rajasthan.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in eight burglaries and one vehicle theft, police said. A police officer said the gang used to go around in stolen cars in the night and strike apartments in housing societies. They used cars to avoid being intercepted or checked. Police have also recovered stolen ornaments, silverware and other valuables from the four.
