Finance firm staff robbed of Rs 26 lakh

An employee of a private cash management firm was allegedly robbed of Rs 26.95 lakh by four unidentified motorcycle-borne persons near Shramik Bhavan in Shivajinagar around 1 pm on Monday.

An employee of a private cash management firm was allegedly robbed of Rs 26.95 lakh by four unidentified motorcycle-borne persons near Shramik Bhavan in Shivajinagar around 1 pm on Monday.

Sanjay Ambadas More of Nanavati Nagar,Ramtekdi Hadapsar,an employee of Radiant Cash Management Services,Mohammedwadi,lodged the complaint at Shivajinagar police station.

The firm is involved in collecting cash from businessmen and depositing it in banks,on commission basis. Complainant More reportedly collected cash of Rs 26.95 lakh from the two offices of a business firm Kuwad And Sons and Kuwad Brothers,located at Ganesh Peth and Market Yard,respectively.

He kept the cash in a sack and was carrying it to ING Vyasa Bank on F C Road on a two-wheeler. Just when he reached in front of Shramik Bhavan near the PMC bus stop,four unidentified persons,who were allegedly chasing him,pushed him from behind and he fell down. The four suspects allegedly hurled chilly powder in his eyes,snatched his cash bag and fled.

A person called the police control room about the incident. Soon,a team of Shivajinagar police reached the spot. Senior officers,including Additional Commissioners Chandrashekhar Daithankar,Shahji Solunkhe and Deputy Commissioner (Zone I) Makrand Ranade,visited the crime scene.

Senior inspector Pandharinath Patil of Shivajinagar police station said,”We have confirmed that he collected the cash for depositing in the bank. Further probe is on.”
