Fergusson professor,two kids die in mishap

A professor at Fergusson College (FC) and his two children died,while his wife was injured in a road mishap that took place at Indapur on Wednesday morning,while they were travelling to Osmanabad to attend a function.

A professor at Fergusson College (FC) and his two children died,while his wife was injured in a road mishap that took place at Indapur on Wednesday morning,while they were travelling to Osmanabad to attend a function.

Indapur police have identified the deceased as Professor Mahendra Parshuram Waghmare (42),Aditya Waghmare (16) and Kaustubh Waghmare (12),residents of Vinay Vasant Housing Society in Gokhale Nagar.

Waghmare,his wife Anuradha (35) and their two sons were travelling to Kalamb in Osmanabad to attend a religious function,when the car they were travelling in overturned on Pune-Solapur Highway around 10 am,police said.

When local residents and the police heard of the incident,they rushed to the spot and admitted them to a local hospital. Waghmare and his two sons were declared dead at the hospital. Police inspector Ashok Pawar of Indapur police station is investigating the case.

Family members and college staff were shocked to hear the news. Waghmare have been teaching Mathematics to junior college students for the past 15 years. Vice-Principal Rekha Palshikar said Waghmare was the subject-in charge and before joining FC he taught at a college in Sangli. The staff remembered him as a soft spoken and gentle person.

2 BBA students die in Lonavla collision

Two BBA students,who were going to attend an examination at a college in Khandala,died at Lonavla on Pune-Mumbai Highway on Wednesday morning,when the motorcycle they were on collided head-on with a state transport bus.

The victims have been identified as Raunak Nambiar (23) of Yerawada,Pune,and Debabrat Kalar (22) of Borivali,Mumbai,both of who lived in Pune.

Lonavla rural police inspector Vishnu Pawar said both were students of BBA at Kohinoor Management Institute in Khandala. “Both worked in Pune and were going to appear for their BBA exam on a motorcycle today morning. They were trying to overtake a vehicle,when their motorcycle collided head-on with a bus at Walvan in Lonavla on Pune-Mumbai Highway around 9.30 am. The impact was so severe that they died on the spot.

separate accidents claim Two more lives

A tractor ran over a 12-year-old boy at Ramtekdi Industrial area on Tuesday afternoon,killing him immediately.

Police have identified the victim as Ritik Shivcharan Walmiki of Ramtekdi in Hadapsar. After his mother Mala Walmiki (38) lodged the offence at Wanavdi police station,the tractor driver Dashrath Gilbile (31) of Loni Kalbhor was arrested on charges of negligent driving. Police said Gilibile was driving a tractor with two trollies filled with compost. Ritik was playing on the road near his house around 12 noon,when the tractor knocked him down,

Meanwhile,a speeding car hit an elderly man at Kondhwe-Dhawade around 3.15 pm on Tuesday,killing him on the spot.

Police have identified the deceased as Shamrao Chaguji Kamble (60),a resident of Pandhari Residency,Khadakmal,Kondhwe Dhawade in Haveli. His son Sanjay Kamble (28) lodged the offence at Warje Malwavdi police station. Police have arrested the driver of the car Manoj Dedhe (38),a resident of Kondhwe Dhawde also on charges of negligent driving.

Police said that Dedhe was driving at a high speed and lost control,hitting two pedestrians,including a woman,who also died in the mishap.
