Employee dies in Bangalore Bakery fire,owner held for negligence

Chatushrungi police have arrested the owner of Bangalore Bakery after a 16-year-old employee died due to suffocation in a fire that broke out at the shop in the early hours of Saturday.

Chatushrungi police have arrested the owner of Bangalore Bakery after a 16-year-old employee died due to suffocation in a fire that broke out at the shop in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said a major fire broke out at the bakery,owned by Sachin Vijay Patharkar,between 1.45 am and 2.30 am on Saturday.

The victim,Mahesh Shankar Pagdi,who was sleeping inside the bakery died due to suffocation and injuries.

Investigating officer S K Sakhare said,“The owner has been booked under Section 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code for causing death by negligence. The door of the bakery was locked from outside and no safety equipment was installed at the bakery.”
