Dummy candidate writing paper for another aspirant arrested

The city police have arrested a 24-year-old youth for allegedly appearing as a dummy candidate for another aspirant in the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) written examination conducted at SPRF camp in Ramtekdi on Sunday.

The city police have arrested a 24-year-old youth for allegedly appearing as a dummy candidate for another aspirant in the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) written examination conducted at SPRF camp in Ramtekdi on Sunday.

Police said the paramilitary force was conducting an open recruitment for the post of constables for India Reserve Battalion (IRB). Dharamsingh Vitthal Singhal,a resident of Salegaon in Aurangabad district appeared for the exam on behalf of Pavan Pralhad Sulane (21) from Jalna,who had qualified the physical test on March 23. Singhal had failed in the physical test.

A complaint was lodged by constable Sandeep Ghorpade (24) of SRPF camp in Ramtekdi,Hadapsar. Singhal has been remanded in police custody till May 29.

Assistant police inspector Suvarna Phulvant investigating the case,said,“Singhal used his own photograph on Sulane’s identity card to appear for the exam. He was,however,caught by the authorities for using the forged ID card. We have recovered Rs 16,000 from his possession.”

While seeking his police custody,assistant public prosecutor A K Pacharane said that his custody was required to to find out from where he procured money. His accomplice Sulane is yet to be arrested.
