Despite the district administration preparing a list of illegal constructions, the state government is yet to give a green signal to pull them down.
The government had formed a committee to come up with a detailed plan. However, the final order is awaited.
Illegal constructions in the district remain unabated after the formation of the Regional Plan of 1997,in which 1.13 lakh illegal constructions were listed. At present, the district collectorate reportedly estimates around 2.5 lakh illegal structures in the district with large-scale growth in fringe areas.
Last year,a three-member committee comprising principal secretaries of revenue, urban development and rural development departments was formed to review illegal constructions in Pune,Nashik and Nagpur.
Despite the panel making recommendations,no directions have been given yet. The district administration had prepared a plan to pull down constructions, but with no guidelines. We have not been able to carry out
the work. Moreover,a separate team was to be constituted by the state government to carry out the action plan, a district official said.
Pune district administration listed 8,853 illegal structures in 13 talukas, with Maval and Haveli topping the list. Of these,3,634 structures have been issued notices, while 6,019 cases have been registered. Only two have been regularised.
